He Said How Many States?

"The process of election affords a moral certainty, that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications."

Hello, my name is John Rhinehart and I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ on July 15, 1975 while serving in the United States Air Force on the Island of Guam. The ministry of Mission Of Truth Evangelism started as the result of what happen on June 28, 1981 when Rev. Bill Maupin, leader of a small Tuscon, AZ, sect named Lighthouse Gospel Tract Foundation, preached that the world would come to an end on this day, which they called "rapture day." Those who were saved would be "spirited aloft like helium balloons." Some 50 people gathered in a Millerite-like fashion, only to have their dreams predictably dashed.

At that time I was a member of Lakeview Chapel (CMA) in Owego, NY, as some members were teaching Maupin's teaching of the rapture. I had tried to convince one friend of mine that Maupin nor anyone else could predict the date of Christ's return. Well, it got back to Maupin and he sent me his book on the date of the return of Christ free of charge. It did not change my view or God's Word.

June 28, 1981 came and went with no event of the rapture. When his June 28 prediction failed, Bill Maupin claimed that doomsday would take place 40 days later. August 7, 1981. Maupin said that just as Noah's ark was gradually raised to safety over a period of 40 days, the same would happen to the world. When that dated failed he then put the Return of Christ to occur May 14, 1988; based on Founding State of Israel, May 15, 1948. And as you all know, 1988 has come and gone with no Return of Christ.

The reason why all predictions of the Tribulation date setting fails is because those Prophecies have already been fulfilled in 70 AD.

Thus in 1981, through the events of Maupin and others, MOTE (Mission Of Truth Evangelism) was created to dispel the myths and misguided teachings of mainline Christianity also known as the Corporate Church. It is also the purpose of MOTE to show that “Conventional Wisdom” runs ramped within the church and America. From Madelyn Murray O’Hara’s goal to have the FCC prohibit all Christian media to the election of the President of the United States. MOTE is on a mission to find out the truth in everything we read, hear and what we think we know as “the gospel truth.” I would venture to say that 90% of what we read hear and think we know is based on Conventional Wisdom or misguided teaching.

Conventional Wisdom is a term used to describe ideas or explanations that are generally accepted as true by the public or by experts in a field. The term implies that the ideas or explanations, though widely held, are unexamined and, hence, may be reevaluated upon further examination or as events unfold. Conventional wisdom is not necessarily true. it is used to refer to the accepted truth about something which nearly no-one would argue about, such as Federal and State Income Taxes, and so is used as a gauge (or well-spring) of normative behavior or belief, even within a professional context. Conventional wisdom may itself be the subject of urban legends. For example, it is widely believed that conventional wisdom prior to Christopher Columbus held that the world was flat, when in actuality scholars had long accepted that the earth is a sphere.

So after 33 years of studying the Word of God, I am still dispelling the myths and misguided teachings of mainline Christianity. And by doing so, much of my past thinking and positions have also changed.

“Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?”
